Ladies In Red
For The Hollywood Reporter's latest issue, they decided to gather six leading ladies to discuss their families and careers in The Actress Roundtable. The group is made up of Lady Gaga, Regina King, Nicole Kidman, Rachel Weisz, Glenn Close, and Kathryn Hahn. When talking about their careers, they discussed the state of Hollywood and how it's evolved with time. Glenn and Rachel discussed how some of the movies they've been in had actually been in the works for years but had only recently actually gotten made. This largely probably had to do with the changing atmosphere in Hollywood that has started giving women a much bigger voice than ever before. Just from the roundtable, you can see how empowerment movements like Me Too and Times Up have affected the way movies are made and how opportunities have become more available to women and people of color that previously would have never gotten them. Of course there's still a long way to go but it is refreshing and exciting to see this happening.
To go along with the open discussion, the six women also got done up to have their pictures taken. The theme of the photoshoot was red, with all the ladies wearing coordinating outfits in the same color. You can see by the pictures that no matter what their outfit was, the six of them all slayed their looks. Being that we're right in the middle of the holiday season, the classic color was a perfect fit for the photoshoot.
Even with red being a classic holiday color, there are a lot of women who shy away from it because it's such a bold color and they wrongly believe that it won't suit them. But anyone and everyone can look good in red! And we're not just talking clothes. Red makeup, jewelry, and yes, even red hair. If you've always wanted to go red but were too afraid that you couldn't pull it off, we want to show you that you absolutely can slay in red.
If you like to stick with lighter tones, a copper red shade could be the way to go. These colors have orangey/blonde undertones and can work with anyone, no matter what your skin tone is. The one thing that you do want to consider is how dark your hair is starting off. The darker your hair is, the more care you'll have to take when switching over so that you don't damage it. Check out this article for maintaining healthy hair when coloring your hair.
Before going full copper red, you might be interested in trying out this shade. This red has brownish undertones that darken it up a bit and make it a more subtle shade. If your skin is a darker tone, a good style to use might be the shadow or blended root look. This is a technique that allows you to blend your naturally dark roots into the new color. It’s a gorgeous look and also low maintenance so it's also perfect for anyone who doesn't want to visit the salon as often.
Were you inspired by the photoshoot? Then go bold! This is that red red shade that will definitely turn heads and make your presence known. Go with a deeper red for a sexy sultry vibe or brighten it up to match your vibrant personality.
The colder months also make a perfect time for those classic dark tones. If you like red but want to stay darker, then using a red with more purple undertones could be the shade for you. This is a great color especially for those with black or dark brown hair as it won't require as much of your natural color to be stripped off.
You've probably heard that red is a power color. If you want to evoke passion, excitement, or energy, then red is color that you've been looking for! Whether you're dying your hair or making it the main color of your next outfit, know that you can own the look. As we've shown you, a red dress or red hair can be a great color for anybody because there are so many different shades you can pick from. Whatever your taste is, there's a red out there for you.
