Do you ever have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep? Are you ever groggy during the day even though you've slept through the night? Having a healthy sleep schedule is key to improving the quality of your life! A good night's sleep is just as important as exercise and self care in your daily routine! Now that you may have more time on your hands during the pandemic, this is the perfect time to work on better sleeping habits!

Stick to a sleep schedule!

We know it may be hard to get used to, but sticking to a sleep schedule even on the weekends will help your body get into a routine. This will help you fall asleep faster and stay asleep throughout the night.

Create a Bedtime Ritual

Having a relaxing bedtime ritual is key to having a rested night's sleep. Refraining from using your phone or watching TV will help you relax faster. Doing some meditation, reading a book, or writing in your journal instead can help your body and mind relax and get you ready for bed. Taking a bath or a shower before bed can also help improve your overall sleep quality.

Set up a perfect sleep environment

If you have an oil diffuser, using your favorite scent can be used to set the mood for a calming nights rest. Also setting your room to a cool temperature, a room that is too hot or cold can stand in the way of you getting your beauty sleep!

Food and Alcohol

Avoid eating meals, drinking alcohol or caffeine before bed. Eating meals earlier in the evening, and avoiding spicy or heavy food before bed will limit stomach problems throughout the night. Although a nightcap may help you relax, it also can disrupt your sleeping cycle and like other liquids cause you to make bathroom trips during the night. Steering clear of these will reduce your chances of having broken sleep.

Weighted Blankets

Using a weighted blanket kinda feels like wrapping yourself in a big hug! Weighted blankets have been proven to reduce stress and anxiety during sleep, it sounds like a dream!

Use a Sleeping App

Sleeping or even meditation apps can help you fall asleep faster or have a deeper sleep with the use of relaxing music and sounds. There's a bunch out there, so try different ones to find one that fits you best!

Having a good night's sleep can help you to be more productive during the day, less stressed and anxious, and help create an emotional balance - who doesn’t want that? Let us know what you do for better sleep in the comments!
