Is BET choosing a side in the Cardi vs Nicki beef? The BET Hip Hop Award nominations are definitely making it look that way. Cardi B has a whopping 11 nominations to Nicki MInaj’s 2. The two awards Nicki is up for are Sweet 16: Best Featured Verse, for her verse on YG’s Big Bank and Made You Look Award(Best Hip Hop Style). Cardi is also nominated for both of those awards. Her Sweet 16 nod is for Motorsport which also features Nicki. Is this landslide of nominations for Cardi an indication that Nicki is losing her touch? We don’t think so, but it definitely gives us something to think about. Let’s compare.

Nicki’s first Hip Hop Awards was in 2010. She had 4 nods that year; Hustler of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Made You Look, and People’s Champ. She won 3 out of the 4. To date, Nicki has won 7 Hip Hop awards, out of 26 nominations over an 8 year span. She’s branded herself as a rising fashion icon rather than just an artist. Her creativity, multi-dimensional flow and animated delivery has skyrocketed her into legendary status.

Cardi’s first time at the Hip Hop Awards was just last year in 2017. She won five of nine nominations Best Mixtape, Single of the Year, Best New Hip Hop Artist, Hustler of the Year, Made You Look. Adding in this year’s nominations, she’s at 19 nominations hot on her predecessor's designer heels! Cardi’s unapologetic wildcard personality, charisma, and talent has won over many and taken her from Instagram to reality TV and now to international stardom.

Now it’s obvious that Cardi has propelled into the spotlight a lot faster than Nicki originally did, but Nicki’s longevity and lyricism still hold weight in the hip-hop community. So where do you stand? Is Cardi B the new Queen of Rap or is Nicki Minaj slowly coming back to end Cardi’s super-extended 15 minutes. We’re certain that this will go down as one of the biggest feuds in Hip Hop history but how will it end?
